China’s electric vehicle market is witnessing another major success story as Leapmotor’s B03X, sold as the A10 in China, has emerged as the country’s second-highest-selling vehicle model in August, with 30,652 units sold in a single month.

The model has also set a new milestone for Leapmotor, becoming the fastest-selling vehicle in the company’s history to cross 100,000 units. The B03X reached the landmark on August 7, 2026 - just 135 days after its official market launch on March 26, highlighting the strong consumer demand for feature-rich electric vehicles at relatively accessible prices.

From new model to 100,000 sales in just 135 days

The B03X’s rapid rise has strengthened Leapmotor’s position in China’s highly competitive new-energy vehicle market. According to the company, the surge in demand contributed to Leapmotor becoming the first emerging Chinese EV startup to record more than 100,000 vehicle deliveries in a single month for two consecutive months.

The achievement underscores the accelerating shift in China’s automobile market, where consumers are increasingly looking for electric vehicles that combine technology, performance, practicality and competitive pricing.

Premium technology in an accessible EV

The B03X has been positioned around the idea of bringing premium-level technology and features to a broader EV segment. The vehicle is equipped with a 145 kW motor and a 55 kWh battery, offering a claimed driving range of up to 505 kilometres under the CLTC testing cycle.

Its fast-charging capability is another key selling point. The vehicle can charge from 30% to 80% in around 16 minutes, according to the company, making it more practical for everyday users and longer journeys.

Inside the cabin, the B03X features high-performance computing hardware, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 cockpit chip. The model also focuses heavily on practicality, offering 510 litres of luggage space, which can be expanded to 1,605 litres with the rear seats folded.

Stellantis backing strengthens global ambitions

Leapmotor’s growth is also being supported by its global partnership with Stellantis, the automotive group behind brands including Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Peugeot. The company says Leapmotor has now sold more than 1.7 million vehicles globally, with monthly deliveries exceeding 100,000 units for two consecutive months in July and August.

Beyond China, Leapmotor is expanding its international presence through a network of more than 2,000 sales and service points across more than 45 countries.

The rapid success of the B03X highlights how quickly Chinese EV manufacturers are moving up the global automotive value chain-combining advanced technology, strong production capabilities and aggressive pricing to compete not only in China but increasingly in international markets.
