NMB Bank Limited and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote sustainable finance and climate-resilient development in Nepal.
The partnership will bring together ICIMOD’s expertise in regional research, science, innovation and capacity building with NMB Bank’s financial-sector experience to explore investment opportunities that support sustainable economic growth.
Under the partnership, the two organisations will explore ways to translate scientific research and evidence-based solutions into practical financing opportunities. The collaboration is expected to help identify projects where financial resources can support environmental protection, responsible resource management and climate resilience.
A key area of the partnership will be the promotion of green financing and initiatives addressing environmental and climate-related challenges. By linking scientific knowledge with financial resources, NMB Bank and ICIMOD aim to identify and support projects that can contribute to ecosystem protection and sustainable use of natural resources while strengthening the resilience of local communities.
The partnership also seeks to encourage sustainable economic models that balance financial growth with environmental and social priorities. Through the MoU, NMB Bank and ICIMOD will explore opportunities to develop financing approaches that can connect Nepal’s growing need for climate-resilient investment with research-backed solutions and innovation.
